At the start of 2013, Malaysia implemented the minimum wage policy whereby RM900 will be the minimum wage for employees in the private sector in the Peninsular and RM800 a month in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan. However, due to over 400 applications from companies to postpone the date to December 31 2013, the implementation of minimum wage was fully enforced on January 1 2014.
In this episode, Sharmila Valli Narayanan, a part-time writer shares her experiences while she was living on minimum wage. Watch as she takes us through her daily challenges and obstacles as a minimum wage earner.
