Business Circle invites you to our upcoming Industry Speaks session “Can KL Entertain?”, featuring Adrian Yap of Freeform Sdn Bhd (organizers of Urbanscapes), Iqbal Ameer of Livescape Asia (organizers of Future Music Festival Asia), Rizal Kamal of LOL Events, and Tony Nagamaiah of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau.
Our targets are ambitious enough. We must increase the number of tourist arrivals for international events by 3.6 times from 70,000 in 2009 to 250,000 by 2020. This means that we need to attract three to four major international events to our city in a year*.
Adrian Yap is the founder and festival director of Urbanscapes, a local home-grown creative arts festival. Besides the annual festival, he also promotes international and local events regularly, spanning everything from comedy to concerts. He is also the co-owner of The Bee, a popular F&B venue that features shows regularly.Industry Speaks panelist, IQBAL AMEER, Co-founder & Business Development Director of Livescape AsiaIndustry Speaks panelist, RIZAL KAMAL, founder and chief executive officer of LOL Events (M) Sdn Bhd Industry Speaks panelist, TONY NAGAMAIAH, General Manager of International Events Unit, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau

In 2010, KL was named fourth most dynamic city in terms of international tourist arrivals in 2011**, making it one of the tourism hubs in the region. Riding on its popularity globally, KL seems well-poised to attract international big acts by branding itself as the location for world-class entertainment.
What’s in it for KL? Aside from the obvious – world class entertainment for us, we will also be able to create more jobs, groom local talent and create new business opportunities for Malaysians.
How will we make this a reality? What are some of the critical success factors?
